A Quiz and Stovies night will be held on 30 November in the Drumoak/Durris hall. Tickets are now on sale, priced £5 each - with 4-6 people in a team. These are available from the office on (01330) 824443 or e-mail info@homestartdeeside.org.
The Quiz sheet raised £68, and local man Jim Ross won the prize that was donated by WH Smith.
A Jumble sale was held on Saturday 22 September in the Banchory Town hall with teas and coffees and home baked pieces served in the Lesser Town hall. This went well and raised £760 clear profit.
A Christmas party is to be arranged this year again for the children of the families supported. The proceeds of the jumble sale will go towards providing gifts for them.
A coffee morning for families and volunteers was held on March 17 2007 in the By-Dee-Inn. This was a social gathering for everyone involved with Home-Start Deeside to meet one another and give the mums who attended a bit of a break as there were plenty of willing hands to coo over the babies and toddlers. A volunteer who sells jewellery attended with her stock and a donation was made of £30 to the Friends of Home-Start Deeside.
Volunteers - a volunteer preparation course began on 29 August.
7 people signed up to start this week, with different health professionals lined up to give presentations. First aid for babies, Postnatal Depression, Aspergers syndrome, Dyslexia and Child Protection being some of the subjects covered.At the moment we have 23 volunteers, 17 visiting families with some having 2 volunteers sharing the load.
The twins group at the Hill of Banchory Community Learning Wing also benefits from volunteer help.
