There are many opportunities for volunteering within Home-Start, both working directly with families or supporting those who do. Both areas of volunteering are very rewarding. |
At the heart of our charity are our home-visiting volunteers. We have around 11,000 men and women who volunteer to visit parents at home to give emotional and practical help. Those volunteers must have parenting experience and, before they are matched with a family, go through a training programme.
We also have around 3,000 other volunteers who help run our local Home-Start Schemes - they will have all sorts of skills including:
- general business management
- financial and legal expertise
- IT knowledge
- human resources experience
- PR & media skills

The volunteers who manage our Schemes are called Trustees and they also receive special preparation for their role with Home-Start.
