* Important announcement about our Home-Start shop in Alford *
The Home-Start Deeside, Alford and Strathdon scheme has been supporting families with young children in our community for 18 years. To ensure the long-term sustainability of supporting families in our area, the Trustees have carried out a review of all our services. We have identified areas where we must reorganise our operations.
It is with great sadness we announce we can no longer continue operating our shop in Alford. This shop will close on Friday 31st October 2025.
The shop has had a dedicated team of staff, volunteers and donors. We thank each and everyone who has contributed to the charity over the years.
Home-Start will continue to support families in the area, and we are working on ways that Home-Start can expand its support to reach more families than ever.
Home-Start Deeside, Alford and Strathdon - Annual General Meeting
The AGM will be held on Monday 6th October 2025 at 6pm in the Banchory Business Centre.
All are welcome to attend – tea and coffee provided!

Staff changes at Home-Start Deeside Alford and Strathdon
You may be aware there have been some staffing changes here recently. Leah is taking a well-earned break and Lizzie has a new job in Dundee. We wish them all the very best in their next ventures!
We are currently working closely with Home-Start Kincardine, to ensure we can continue to support families and volunteers in Deeside, Alford and Strathdon.

Home-Start Deeside, Alford and Strathdon is a Banchory based charitable organisation with a charity shop based in Alford. We assist vulnerable families with young children throughout the West Aberdeenshire area. We offer completely free confidential advice and support to families with children under 5 years of age and we can signpost to other agencies if necessary. We are part of Home-Start UK – a nationwide organisation.
