Changes at Home-Start Deeside Alford and Strathdon * Important announcement *
Since Aberdeenshire Council announced the cessation of its financial support, the trustees at Home-Start Deeside, Alford and Strathdon have been exploring the best way to ensure the long-term provision of family support services in our area. We have been committed to continue reaching all those who need our support and are excited to announce that Home-Start South Aberdeenshire will now be providing support across our area.
Services will now be provided across all South Aberdeenshire, covering the area from Portlethen in the east to Braemar and Strathdon in the west and from Alford south to Laurencekirk and St Cyrus and everywhere in between.
Some of our trustees are joining the existing Kincardine Trustees on the Home-Start South Aberdeenshire Board. Kairen, our Administrator, will continue to provide her valued support.
We would like to thank you for all your invaluable support over the years and hope you will continue to work with Home-Start South Aberdeenshire in the future.
* Important announcement about our Home-Start shop in Alford *
The Home-Start Deeside, Alford and Strathdon scheme has been supporting families with young children in our community for 18 years. To ensure the long-term sustainability of supporting families in our area, the Trustees have carried out a review of all our services. We have identified areas where we must reorganise our operations.
It is with great sadness we announce we can no longer continue operating our shop in Alford. The shop closed on Friday 31st October 2025.
The shop has had a dedicated team of staff, volunteers and donors. We thank each and everyone who has contributed to the charity over the years.
Home-Start will continue to support families in the area, and we are working on ways that Home-Start can expand its support to reach more families than ever.
